‘Love Thy Neighbour’ is a saying that is taken to heart by most Indians. All of us have come across neighbours who have turned into our friends for life or those who have left a bad taste in our mouth. Here is a look at all the different types of neighbours we are bound to come across at some point or another during our lifetime.
The extra friendly neighbour
I am sure we’ve had a fair share of individuals living next door that are super fun and crazy, and if their antics stop right there we probably might ‘like’ them. But what happens when they go crazy and become extra friendly. We are talking about the ones that are willing to help you finish your meal because they haven’t cooked supper or the ones that are more than happy to help you find a prospective life partner!
While we might have learnt to tolerate them, we still loath them!
The gossipy neighbour
We live in a society where gossip is prevalent and there is not much you can do about it really. And if you are really unlucky you might have a gossip monger for a neighbour! Although it might usually be harmless, the best way to get out of the situation is just to remain calm about and be a good listener (or not!).
The snoopy neighbour
Remember Harriet and Mrs Brindle from Small Wonder? They perfectly describe the snoopy nosy neighbours. It’s not just restricted to reel life, everyone in the real world too have to deal with them. And the best way to deal with these well-wishers is to very politely deny them.
The pretty neighbour
Not all of us are lucky to stay beside a neighbour who is lovely and calm. We would all want to have neighbours like Penny from The Big Bang Theory or Rachel Green and Monica Geller from FRIENDS.
The philosopher neighbour
We would all have that one neighbour who is our go to person when we need guidance. He/she will not only hear us out but offer viable solutions to all our problems. Who would mind having such a neighbour!
The eternally young neighbour
We are talking about none other than Pooja Aunty from Hum Paanch. Her trademark line ‘Aunty mat kaho na’ is what these neighbours are all about. If we weren’t dealing with melodrama enough, these type of neighbours are sure to increase your patience level. So if you have someone similar to Pooja Aunty, don’t forget to tell her how ‘young’ she looks!
